Stairs Academy holds In-Person internships in partnership with Arts & Letters 305 United, a small proressive public school in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. These Internships are an opportunity for Computer Science Majors to practice their Networking, Physical Computing and Technology troubleshooting skills, doing IT Tech Support for students, staff and administrators, in a building with hundreds of Desktop Computers, Laptops, tablets, printers, Smartboards.
Education Majors or those interested in a career in education may do their official Student Teaching at Arts & Letters 305 United, in the Music and Technology Classroom, where they assist the Teacher in lesson creation, grading, using Online LMS (Learning Management Systems) and assisting students individually or in small groups, as they engage in touch typing, coding, robotics, financial literacy, music production, digital DJing and Virtual Reality experiences through Oculus Quest 2 headsets. Several Interns have used this experience to work inside a school and classroom setting, to see if they want to pursue a career in education, in IT Technology or a combination of both. Several past Interns have gone on to work in Tech Fields, or became Teachers shortly after this internship.
